Tehran at a glance – A little slide show I made of a few features of Tehran.
This is the middle of the city – you can tell it’s an old city and this is an old part of it. Not very pretty but I believe it has it’s own rustic charm.
Middle of city again – only taxis are allowed inside the city centre traffic zone in case you are wondering why it is not packed.
Sepah Saalaar – a shopping district – mainly this one street – with only shoe stores. Sooo many stores. Sooo many shoes. Makes you dizzy looking at them all.
Me shopping – bought 3 pairs that day. And yes, it was bloody freezing and that’s why I am wearing every item of clothing I own. Cold also turns you into a good Muslim hijab wise.
My Happy Snaps:
Me observing the strict Islamic dress code
WEDDING and related ceremonies
With the Bride-to-be at the Henna ceremony that takes place before the wedding.
With my auntie (2 yrs older than me) who is the bride’s sister at the same party … I did her hair ![]()

Group shot with their other sister and her daughter (my bratty little cousin) , my mum and two grandmas. It was a women’s only gig as the groom’s family are quite religious. But Jesus Christ you would not believe some of the things women wear at these parties! Many short skirts ( I saw an ass!) , low cut and see through tops!!
The Henna (the dolls skirt). They just put a little on the bride’s and groom’s hands and also to all the young bachelors (if they were allowed to participate) and bachelorette’s hands so that lady luck may give them a wedding of their own.
At the wedding with the beautiful bride, Mina, my mum and grandma. I know the gloves are a bit dramatic, but I had hours to coordinate an outfit and I thought it’d be fun
My auntie, Parisa my good friend and dad’s cousin and her sister who I decided to have tag along. Weddings are all held with men and women separate unless they’re in a private house or private premises that are hired out. But if in a hall men and women are separated.
But below….
The after-party where the sexes mingle freely and there is much dancing and boozing. It was held in a basement and was pretty hectic, at a few points I was scared of being trampled. As you can see people are dancing like crazy… There was a live band and it was packed and hot!

Seina, what were you doing there??
More dancing…
The next day a party is held at the bride’s house where all the guests bring their presents and we all eat cake. Again it’s women’s only. My uncle commented that he always wondered what happened to the wedding cake. These girls are all the bride’s family. Can you spot the non-surgically altered nose??
